WiP - Anika's Main Outfit

Two sketch versions later, I have the first draft of Anika's main outfit.  Obviously still needs quite a bit of work, but I'm still pleased.  It's the best her jacket's come out so far, same for her skirt.  Her leggings and boots are giving me hell.

Unfortunately I've been experiencing a lot of problems with my tablet's drivers lately, so that on top of how long it's been since I've utilised my tablet has clearly left me a bit shaky and rusty.  I don't plan on that being for too long though.

PLANWITHME: November/Marraskuu 2017

Late on this one, but at least it's an actually plan with me this time.  And of course, everything what working against me during the filming, but I still pushed through it.  I'm also terrible with working out the voiceover.  Woops.

Happy Hallowe'en & Merry Samhain

Done much earlier than Samhain, but it was Samhain inspired - as well as inspired by the hoodie my bro has promised to get me for Yule.  I am that excited about receiving it. XD

As you can see, I busted out a golden marker for the moon, although I wish I'd have gone a little more outside my comfort zone and did a gold watercolour for it.  I hate seeing all those strokes.  But I already went quite out of my zone for the lines - I rarely line anything in ink anymore, but I think I'm pretty pleased with it.  Despite liking my pencil work as it is more often. :P

And as of recently, Anika's last name is Kivinen.  She's a Finnish with and spooky girl after the rework.  I like to think of her as a selective way to practice what Finnish I learn pft.

Gift - The Housewarming Pineapple

Obviously, the art block is still quite real, but I managed to push myself into making at least this gift for Muge's cousin and his girlfriend.  They moved into their new place and we spent Saturday there for dinner.  It was a really nice time, and doing this taught me of the history behind why the pineapple is a "near universal" symbol of hospitality.

It's a big hard to see it in a photo, but the sections on the pineapple shimmer gold :P  That gold and silver shimmer watercolour palette was probably one of the best things that came in those sketch boxes I got.

PLANWITHME: Weekly&Daily Setup Video

Last time I posted was a whiiiile ago and I really don't have much excuse for not doing so recently either.  I've just been in a huge slump as far as my art.  I haven't even sketched anything.  The most creativity I've had is doing those changes to my bullet journal.  I feel bad about it, but I know that will only discourage me in the long run, so I need to just forgive myself and move past it.  Once I regain some of my muse, there should be more here.  I have a reminder in my phone for something dumb I wanna sketch, but it's better than nothing. :P

But!  I recently did something a lot of people have been encouraging me to do for a while.  It was a bit difficult, I'll need to work on my filming setup, but I think it came out decent.  If I feel accomplished enough about this, maybe I'll do more in the future.  I already shot October by starting the spreads before even filming this woops.  Maybe November I'll do a monthly plan with me...

September (Syyskuu) Setup

It's been a really long while since I've done some major changes to my bullet journal, which is why I haven't posted much on it.  But with being unexpectedly disconnected from my computer longer than predicted and my recent move to Finland (thusly much bigger changes to routine and such), I needed to rework some stuff.  Some of it I hadn't expected either, but I'm suuuuper pleased with it overall.

This is a modified version of Boho Berry's moon/mood tracker.  When I first saw it, I knew it would work out super well for my monthly covers and here it is!  There will be some tweaks for October's (move the numbers to the outer ring, try to fit in the days of the week, colour changes, etc), but this is the look.

My usual monhly tasks/events page with a few extra Finnish tweaks to continue my learning.  This page is 100% a creation of mine and would appreciate credit if anyone uses it.  I'm so proud of it.

Then my completely overhauled monthly tracker page.  I wanted to ditch having to turn the book to fill in my habits and when I found the inspiration for that in a video by MyLifeinaBullet, she convinced me to try that mood tracker.  I haven't had much desire to and thought it was kind of silly, but I like the layout, so I'll see how it goes for me.

The highlights section is something I hope might help me out a bit in keeping myself motivated.  It's really hard for me to give myself credit for anything and I'm really good at belittling anything I do so...let's hope this helps me break that mentality.

My expenses page is another big change.  I didn't really need as much space in "description" as I somehow convinced myself I did, so shortening this helped me to find an area for jotting down grocery lists that won't fit in my weeklies (or anywhere else).  Then Mabon will be filled in sometime during September, that's most likely not going to change.  These particularly I want to match by the end of the year.

I'm pretty excited for September now with this overhaul.  It's really motivating to look a fresh, new spreads like this.  And it's filled the void left in being unable to continue art projects I don't have access to until my computer parts arrive. xD;  Then I'll be back to posting more regularly~

Lineart - Calling Down the Moon

Was going to put up just the lineart, but I like how the iridescent gem came out coloured, so there it is too ;)  This is already really fun to colour.

Summertime Anika

I’m doing a whole sheet for Anika’s style choices and I almost didn’t submit this on that basis (like, you’ll see it again in the lineup), but I spent so much damn time on this, worked so hard, and it looks really nice, so I found a brush I didn’t know I had and slapped together a background for this. :P  Looks good transparent tho, but yea.

Feel like I found a good spot in colouring this time.  I don’t completely hate it haha

Finally doing this.  Working with a harder brush at the moment, but I’ll probably go in after a while to do more of a softer blend…at least on the highlights lol

Also, when you done with the lineart and suddenly want to put large fishnet leggings and boots on her /vibrates (and most likely will be a pain in the ass and do it)

WiP - New Edge Girl to Torture

Based on this old thing from last year, if anyone remembers that. P:  I've clearly got more in mind for her wardrobe than her actual looks lmfao.  I can't decide on her eye shape beneath all that damn makeup.  I'll get there, it'll just take time to get through the aesthetic first PFT.

She is still unnamed.  I'm taking suggestions.  I have no idea what I'm even looking for in this regard...so we'll see.

I initially considered re-purposing Magda for this, but this character is meant to be a much different kind of personality, so that would have meant completely scrapping all of Magda's stuff and I've already put a lot of love into that, so...time to commit to something entirely new.

WiP - Lisi Birb Lord, Lord of Birbs

I held a mini stream an hour or so ago, because I wasn't feeling good enough to sleep.  It's much needed quality time with my cintiq, of course.  I haven't really gotten used to it before this and I'm glad we're starting to come around to each other.

Anyway, here's the thing that wasn't supposed to be me, but turned into me, lol.  It was something easy to practice with because it's not something I'm still in a creative process with.  I know what this is going to look like.

I'm surprisingly pleased with it so far, but we'll see how I feel about it later when I come back to it...oop.

Courtship - and Other Naali & Harakka Pieces

Forgot to post this here woops.  Look at flirty, handsome Harakka showing off his beautiful feathers/wings to the horned fox lady. x3  This took a fuckton of time to do, mostly because I was trying to fight my urge to rush everything in one go.  I came out great, but damn...mostly the trees were slow to come out. xD  One day I'll learn to put leaves on them! lol

Really trying to work on my settings...too many empty backgrounds.  If I ever hope to do some quality illustrations of these two, I gotta fix that...and find some more creativity for the stories.  Got a few brewing up soon, though...I might end up writing small things for them first to really get an image in my mind's eye.

The second one, "Sienestäjät" is newest, but I haven't felt like digging the scanner out of the pit right now, so I just snapped a shitty photo with my tablet. :P  Probably see it in another post down the line of the proper scan, woop.







And then a random affection sketch of Naali and Harakka.  Most of a random, spontaneous little thing to practice them more.  Harakka can be pretty challenging sometimes, because of how dark everything is...so it just tends to blend all the finer details I want.  Gonna have to work on that.

WiP - Courtship

This took forever to form itself, but once it did I was pleased with it.  I've been very slow on working on this, pacing myself over a few days, because I'm attempting not to rush myself so much.  I'm really excited to finish it though.  It's turning out really beautiful.

Originally, the idea was Naali in her wedding dress with a fully-magpie Harakka, but a comment from my own bae revealed its true nature; a courtship moment, rather than betrothal. :P  Changing the clothes really brought it together for me.  Technically, they are already finished, but the background is growing super extensively.  There's sooooo many trees now. XD

PS. sorry for the shitty tablet quality photos, I didn't think to get proper process pictures.  I only just now realized I could make an entry on it.  Woops.

I'm really sorry about how shitty these doors came out.  I know I can do better, but nothing was working out and I just didn't have the time to figure out how to make them nicer. :/ Fuckin awful and frustrating lol

Also half-assed gradient background engage PFT but it looks awful on the white and with the legs cut off it's awkward to be transparent whatever I guess.

Let's hope our one-year gift turns out a lot better than this hahahahaha
