Trichotillomania

"Trichotillomania," also called hair-pulling disorder, is a mental disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other areas of your body, despite trying to stop.

When I was much, much younger I used to suffer terribly from this disorder. I used to pull my eyelashes, my eyebrows, and hair from the direct top of my head. I had a bald spot at the crest of my head and today there are gaps in my eyelashes. It was one of the earliest signs of my mental disorder. 

I've mostly recovered from this, usually managing to just pull on my hair rather than pulling it out, but of course if you pull enough it's just going to come out anyway. I'm grateful I don't do it as much as I used to anymore.

It almost seemed as if this one wasn't going to be finished tonight, but alas, here it is.  She also managed to get named too!  Working on other stuff, but it's late and I'm tired.  I'll most likely be drawing her in a lot more clothes eventually too.

Maybe if I finally get to the part where I write something for her I'll throw it up here, oop oop.

WiP - New Edge Girl to Torture

Based on this old thing from last year, if anyone remembers that. P:  I've clearly got more in mind for her wardrobe than her actual looks lmfao.  I can't decide on her eye shape beneath all that damn makeup.  I'll get there, it'll just take time to get through the aesthetic first PFT.

She is still unnamed.  I'm taking suggestions.  I have no idea what I'm even looking for in this regard...so we'll see.

I initially considered re-purposing Magda for this, but this character is meant to be a much different kind of personality, so that would have meant completely scrapping all of Magda's stuff and I've already put a lot of love into that, so...time to commit to something entirely new.

Courtship - and Other Naali & Harakka Pieces

Forgot to post this here woops.  Look at flirty, handsome Harakka showing off his beautiful feathers/wings to the horned fox lady. x3  This took a fuckton of time to do, mostly because I was trying to fight my urge to rush everything in one go.  I came out great, but damn...mostly the trees were slow to come out. xD  One day I'll learn to put leaves on them! lol

Really trying to work on my settings...too many empty backgrounds.  If I ever hope to do some quality illustrations of these two, I gotta fix that...and find some more creativity for the stories.  Got a few brewing up soon, though...I might end up writing small things for them first to really get an image in my mind's eye.

The second one, "Sienestäjät" is newest, but I haven't felt like digging the scanner out of the pit right now, so I just snapped a shitty photo with my tablet. :P  Probably see it in another post down the line of the proper scan, woop.







And then a random affection sketch of Naali and Harakka.  Most of a random, spontaneous little thing to practice them more.  Harakka can be pretty challenging sometimes, because of how dark everything is...so it just tends to blend all the finer details I want.  Gonna have to work on that.

WiP - Courtship

This took forever to form itself, but once it did I was pleased with it.  I've been very slow on working on this, pacing myself over a few days, because I'm attempting not to rush myself so much.  I'm really excited to finish it though.  It's turning out really beautiful.

Originally, the idea was Naali in her wedding dress with a fully-magpie Harakka, but a comment from my own bae revealed its true nature; a courtship moment, rather than betrothal. :P  Changing the clothes really brought it together for me.  Technically, they are already finished, but the background is growing super extensively.  There's sooooo many trees now. XD

PS. sorry for the shitty tablet quality photos, I didn't think to get proper process pictures.  I only just now realized I could make an entry on it.  Woops.

Telle's Arctic Fox Sketch Commission

The magpie's mother needed an arctic fox image for her article. :P  So she commissioned me to do a quick sketch for her.  It's very nighttime over there right now, so I'm still waiting on her to green light it, but I think it looks pretty nice as is.  I hope it's up to snuff <3

Delayed Sketchbook Pieces

Excuse the long disappearance, I made another journey to Finland to see my lovely magpie~  I missed my drawing tablet and my scanner so much. xD  Had many moments of getting the itch to sketch and only had my sketchbook.  Some ideas just aren't for traditional medium though...I'm sure we'll see some of those belated ideas in the rest of the month or so.

However, I do have a few finished pieces from my sketchbook that I'm relatively proud of. :>

Throwback - Lisica / Naali

At the time of creation, this was known as Lisica.  It was a bit after adopting the handle.  She's the very beginning of the vulpes ramus idea, and something like an avatar for myself, I guess.  Just an emaciated, ragged arctic vixen...

I have a Valentine's idea that involves this, which is why I ended up digging it up. You'll be seeing a bit more of her pretty soon~  I've decided that since I am Lisica, this will be Naali.

Throwback - 2011 Višnja

Since my last posts were of Višnja, I'm currently re-playing the series, and I finally got back from the post-holiday funk I usually get into, I figured I'd start 2017 off with a throwback to the aaaawwful work I did for her back when I'd made her. :P

2011, I can barely believe it was that long ago.  Girl's going through a lot of changes recently...of course, that gun's a staple. 8)

Sketch Dump - Višnja Lusk

Recent conversations and a cool new website have led me to dig deep within my OC pit and pull out ancient dear ones.  For a while I was fixated on Nika, because she among my longest running and favourite OCs. ♥

But then there's the underappreciated Višnja Lusk~  I was still pretty terrible at art when I was drawing for her, so I'm rather happy with my recent throwback to her. :)  Her face looks much more like I imagined it initially, now that I have some ability to render it.

I plan to do much more of her, as this isn't her full/normal outfit. I just wanted to nail down her physique and whatnot. :P I'm really happy with her hair, I used to hate it because of how flat it always came out, bleh. Can't wait to put the big gun back in her hands too. ;)

Throwback - the Oro Girl

I found this old gem (lol) sitting at the bottom of my folder when I organised it to do the art summary.  I'm honestly pretty impressed with what I was up to on July 3rd of 2012.  This is an ancient Condemned OC that was a super self-insert for a long time.  I did a lot of my favourite writing for her, because I actually had someone drawing with me and interested in reading what I wrote for her.  Super motivating to have a friend enabling you, you know? Lol.

I keep meaning to step back to some of this, maybe clean up some of the things.  Then again, I have that in mind for most of my old stuff.  Wish I had more time and motivation for it all.

Sketch Dump - Calling Down The Moon

Did a bunch of quick sketches of Wiebke and the moon dial, because I'm in love with this object and the moon, so...you know.  One of them is going to be a pose for my fancy final, but I'm undecided.  Honestly, I like all of them except for the top-right, but even that can be worked on.

Maybe I should just do them all lol.

Inked - Filofax Dashboard

Took a bit of willpower to get me there, but here's the finished physical piece!  I'm super fucking proud of it.  I'm pushing myself outside of my comfort zones by pursuing mediums I usually avoid, like lining anything with an actual pen, lol.  Also put that grey mildliner to work. ;)

I'm going to scan it eventually, and put it through some proper line-work in photoshop.  Then I'll figure out how to get it printed to some cardstock, maybe laminate it.  Just need it to divide properly as a binder insert, you know?  Not sure what I'm going to do with all the empty space too, hmmm...

WiP - Filofax Dashboard

A wip of a dashboard design for my filofax binder-journal. :3  It’s far from complete, I plan to throw in a ton of mushrooms and flowers and junk too, but I really like where this went. ♥

Oliver for Erpa

This one drew my Magda last night and I didn't get the chance to properly thank her so I sketched up her Oliver. :D

It would have been a tablet drawing if I'd had time, but I didn't.  And I couldn't wait, so I took advantage of my breaks at work.  Yeeeee~ I hope I did alright. :U  I did it from memory so if there's any inaccuracies, I am sorry. I hope she likes it.

Throwback - Ainé Sketch Dump

It's that time again!  Time to keep up appearances and toss up another throwback since I've been pretty lacking in the drawing department.  And I'm quickly coming to hate the plan with me challenge...I think I expect too much of myself. :I

So!  Have this here~  It's an old OC set in the Magic the Gathering setting.  Very short-lived and ultimately recycled a lot of concepts elsewhere, but I enjoyed her. :>
